WHAT'S THE LATEST WITH KARINA
This summer, I did something I almost never let myself do: I stopped. I'm taking the first half of summer off from teaching to actually recharge, and it turns out I needed it more than I wanted to admit. Writing book two was a struggle, and for a while I couldn't figure out why — until I realized I was just burnt out. So I've been resting, stepping back, and letting the well refill. The good news? It's working. I feel more like myself than I have in months.
If you've been with me a while, you know Bastard of the Alpha — book one of my gritty series The Damned Return — is out in the world, and the messages from readers who've fallen for these wolves have meant everything. It's set in the Mackenzie Grey universe, but with new blood, darker secrets, and a protagonist who refuses to play by anyone's rules.
Book two, Wrath of the White Wolf, is on the way — and this one goes for the throat. Higher stakes, old wounds, and a war our girl can't outrun.
But that's not all I've been cooking. I have a whole lineup of projects in the pipeline this year that I am genuinely so excited about, and I can't wait to share them very, very soon. The one I can tell you about? I'm starting a Substack — Office Hours for the Undead. Twice a month, I'll be breaking down vampires, shifters, portals, and all things paranormal across books, TV, anime, and the C-dramas I can't stop watching. Part professor, part fellow obsessive. Attendance optional, but highly encouraged.
So that's me right now: rested, inspired, and plotting more than ever. Whatever comes next, I'm walking into it rested, hungry, and ready to make trouble on the page again.
More soon. Always more.
